HOMEWORK

Students in third grade are given approximately 20-30 minutes of homework Monday through Thursday. However, occasional assignments or projects will have to be worked on or completed over the weekend. Not all assignments are to be written as some may be to read, check over notes, continue work on a project, or to study for a test or quiz.

Homework is NOT graded, however it is very important that it be returned daily. Homework is checked daily. Students will have the opportunity to correct their own mistakes and ask questions about the assignment.

Incomplete or illegible work will not be accepted.

When students do not have their homework complete and ready to hand in, a Homework Alert notice will be sent home. Students are expected to turn in the homework alert signed by a parent along with the missing assignment on the next school day to be marked late. If both the missing work and homework alert are not handed in, the assignment will be counted as a zero.

**Reading every night for 20 to 30 minutes should be routine and a priority. Surround your child with books and writing tools. Encourage your kids to read and write at home. Read to your children and have them read to you.

**I firmly believe children need time to play and wind down after school. It is important for them to relax after such a busy day and prior to starting 30 minutes of homework.
