Our 3rd grade year is flying by and our learners are working extremely hard and doing a fantastic job. I am proud of the accomplishments we have made.
In reading, we are learning to make connections to text by activating prior knowledge, making predictions, and comparing and contrasting. We are using story maps to better our understanding of text and to further the reader's personal, worldly, and text - text connections to printed work.
In writing, we are working on furthering the development of personal narrative work. Writers are learning to apply strategies to bring forth more significance to their writing.
In science, students are working on learning about conservation of natural resources, alternative energies, and air, water, and land quality.
In social studies, students are working on two of the six pillars of good character. Our students are good classroom citizens that care about each other and about their school community. At the beginning of November, we will be working on America's First Thanksgiving and community development.
Reminders!
Parent conferences are fast upon us and I would like to meet all of our classroom family members. If you cannot arrange to meet with me during the regularly scheduled times please feel free to contact me for alternative arrangements. Please look for the yellow flier in your child's take home folder. I truly am looking forward to meeting each one of you.
